TYPOGRAPHY FOR OPTICAL SIZES:

RESEARCH ON SMALL BODIES.

2021, Post graduation research | SENAC-SP

Abstract

The issue of optic sizes is not something new in typography, printers of the past have already explored this when carving typographic designs into metal pieces, creating different designs for specific sizes of the typography. In this research, you will find analyzes of typefaces carved in metal in the past and printed in the mid-1960s, as well as more current typographies, which also undergo changes not only in their pro- portions, but also in their design.

In addition to an intimate analysis of these characteristics and definitions, I propose the development of a new typography. - Rubi, which intends to meet the specific needs of small body typography.
